John Klearman is a Principal of Corporate Finance Associates and works out of the San Diego office. Since the late 1980’s he has been involved in middle market M&A in transactional
and operational capacities. This exposure to Merger and Acquisition work began early in his career as an Officer for Bank of America where he played key roles in acquiring, divesting,
and integrating large financial institutions for his employer.
His unwavering focus on fiduciary responsibility on behalf of his clients stems from owning, buying, and selling his own businesses and divesting to middle market buyers. He knows the
mind and triggers of middle market buyers and sellers, as he has been both.
John has successfully represented clients and has led transactional M&A in the following industries:

- Environmental Sciences and Engineering
- Consumer Retail
- Financial Services
After working for three large banks he left the financial services industry in 1994 and formed Enable Incorporated, a software development firm. In two years his business grew to 30
employees and generated millions in revenue. Enable worked with clients in many sectors of business including Financial Services, BioTech, Criminal Justice, and Telecommunications. In
1998 his firm was solicited to be acquired by an NYSE traded public company, Cotelligent, and was subsequently sold in an all cash transaction.
In 2000 he acquired and then built the largest retail professional photography store in San Diego County. Two years after purchasing his business sales increased by 80% and soon
generated almost $7M in revenue annually. The business became one of the largest Canon and Nikon Photographic equipment dealers in the nation. Calumet Photographic Incorporated, with
worldwide sales of over $300 million acquired John’s business in 2004.
In recent years his focus has been on successfully helping a multitude of clients maximize business value in sell side transactions.
John holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Missouri – in Business Finance and in Computer Science.
